This past weekend the HealthyNYC Expo was held at the Brooklyn Sports Club, located in Spring Creek Towers (Starrett City). This year the organizers added a HealthCare Panel Discussion, which was a huge hit. Former ENY District Leader, Nikki Lucas, was the moderator, and she asked all the right questions regarding home care, health insurance, Medicaid, dangers of vaping and more.  Attendees were able to ask questions and they had access to the panelists and other healthcare partners at the end of the event to ask more personal questions about healthcare and home care.

Panelists included representatives from Empire BlueCross, ModernMD Urgent Care, Cooperative Home Care and Tobacco Free Kids.

“We always knew a health care panel discussion would be very popular because there are so many questions that people have about home care and healthcare”, stated Vernon Jones, Sr., CEO of JIG Media, organizers of the event, and founders of the HealthyNYC and New York for Seniors initiatives. “Most health fairs concentrate on giveaways, face painting for kids and similar activities, but we try to bring activities that are important, while still having tons of fun. This year we added Introduction to Swimming for children ages 5 and up, Tai-Chi for the entire family and free dance class by Purelements, a local dance company, to go along with live jazz and total body movement for all ages. These activities are important for everyone’s health in a real way. Children can now start swimming lessons without being afraid of the water, and the panel discussion speaks for itself. People walked away with real answers and connections to some of our partners who can help them with the process of acquiring Medicaid and Home Care. We will continue to expand the events, activities and our list of partners.”

The next HealthyNYC Expo is October 19, 2019 at the Berean Community & Family Life Center in Central Brooklyn.
